Restaurant Review: Fleet Landing

Charleston’s one and only waterfront restaurant offers classic and contemporary southern food. Prior to being a restaurant it was a US naval building. Spacious, large windows for a panorama view and nautical theme, this place feels like you’re on a ship looking out to sea. Fleet Landing serves brunch, lunch and dinner. Although you can dine here any hour of the day, I suggest going when the sun is shining so you can enjoy the view of the water. Instead of the classic bread and butter, they serve warm buttermilk biscuits and creamy honey butter. Fleet carries an extensive red and white wine list with prices ranging from 27 dollars to 70. A Charleston must try is the shrimp and grits and andouille sausage drizzled with Tasso ham gravy. If you’re in the mood for a sandwich, you can’t go wrong with the fried flounder, blackened triggerfish or the lump crab cake. If you’re feeling adventurous try the baked cod – it’s a piece of art!
